The Cisco® FM10000 Gateway is a rugged industrial-grade network appliance that allows fast, easy setup and management of large-scale Fluidity systems. It allows a Fluidity wireless infrastructure to scale to hundreds of radio devices, without impacting overall system performance.
Scalability up to 10 Gbps
The Cisco FM10000 Gateway is capable of leveraging a choice of powerful network-grade processors to handle a large number of packets per second, lowering the load on Cisco FM radio units installed onsite. The gateway is equipped with 2 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and is able to handle up to 10 Gbps of aggregate traffic from a Fluidity radio cluster. The Cisco FM10000 Gateway can be used together with the Cisco FM1000 Gateway to create a hierarchical architecture for scalability purposes.
Redundancy
Additional Cisco FM10000 Gateways can be installed as backup units within a system, providing redundancy and automatic fault tolerance. Multiple gateway units can be co-located in the same data center or installed in different data centers to provide geographical redundancy.
Reachability
The Cisco FM10000 Gateway helps in connecting different clusters of Fluidity networks that are separated into different broadcast domains. The gateway acts as the aggregation point for all tunnels, connecting all portions of the Fluidity infrastructure across Layer 3 networks or WANs. Using the gateway, roaming across network clusters that belong to different broadcast domains incurs zero handoff time, thanks to Fluidity's make-before-break patented technology.
